"Authentic Turkish Pide: A Delicious Homemade Bread Recipe"

 



Ingredients:

1- 4 cups all-purpose flour


2-
1 tablespoon instant yeast


3-
1 teaspoon sugar


4-
1 teaspoon salt


5-
2 tablespoons olive oil


6-
1 and ½ cups warm water


Topping:

1- egg, beaten


2- Sesame seeds or nigella seeds (optional)


Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the olive oil and warm water.
  3. Mix the ingredients together until a soft dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Punch down the risen dough to release the air and transfer it to a floured surface.
  8. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into an oval or elongated shape, about ½ inch (1.25 cm) thick.
  9. Place the shaped dough on the prepared baking sheet and cover them with a damp cloth. Let them rest for 15-20 minutes.
  10. Brush the tops of the dough with the beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds or nigella seeds if desired.
  11. Bake the Turkish bread in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack.
  13. Serve the Turkish bread warm or at room temperature with your favorite dips, spreads, or as a sandwich bread.
